What is love?
Love is something that everyone will define as something different. For me, love is a commitment you make to someone and a deep, unwavering want to give a person or a thing everything they need to thrive.
How do you define love?
How To Keep Your Love For Writing?
Keeping up a love for writing is something many of us find hard to do. I've lost my love for writing once or twice and given myself a multi-year break - very much needed. When I came back, I had the energy to find my love for writing once again and re-discover what is love.
Keeping up that constant level of love can be trying at times, here's what I do when I question "what is love" and do I actually love writing:
1) Create a routine and stick with it. This doesn't have to be a rigid schedule you stick to for the entire day, this could be something quick and easy that gets you in the mood for writing - making a cup of coffee, putting on your favourite pair of socks (stinky!), or sitting down at the same place each day to begin your writing work. Pushing through and doing a small act towards your writing everyday - What is love? It's this.
2) Know what you need on a bad day. We all have bad days and we all need a pick me up. Do you like grabbing a biscuit from the cupboard? A 14th cup of coffee? A smell of a freshly picked rose? Whatever it is you need to keep yourself going, have it on hand. Show yourself that you got this and can get through a hard day with a treat or two. Treat yourself like a date on Valentine's day and treat yourself special. We all need to be reminded what is love from time to time.
3) Give yourself a guilt free day off. Not everyday, but when you really need it, let yourself lie down on the couch or go for a road trip or spend the day in the ocean. Everyone needs a day off; from our day jobs, our writing, and being in love. When our little date night treats to ourselves aren't cutting it, scrap the words, slam the laptop down and walk out that door. Your writing can see you tomorrow. Knowing what is love, is also knowing what is self-love.
What do you do to remind yourself what is love and why you write?
