The short answer is: Yes. You should always be writing.
Drop those excuses now, pick up your pen and get writing. Your story waits for no one.
Remembering what is the date today can be tricky for anyone - especially a full time writer who has the same routine day in and day out. Each day looks the same so any concept about date or time can easily be lost.
Here are some tips to remember dates:
1) Have A calendar above your desk with everyone's birthdays and your social commitments on there, have a separate diary for your writing tasks. This way, all you have to do is look up and see all the social commitments you have assigned to yourself - without getting distracted by work.
2) Use a diary with dates and months already added - check this before you buy it, some diaries make you fill in the dates yourself. Cross off each day once it passes so can keep track without putting in too much thought. All you have to do is open your diary and you know everything that is happening that day.
3) Google Calendar. Or whatever calendar comes on your phone. This will send you alerts anytime something important is happening - or unimportant depending on your settings. It will also send you alerts about events and reminders of anything you add to the calendar - full disclosure, I don't use it.
Remembering the date is important for anyone so you don't forget upcoming birthdays, celebrations and public holidays. We all need a calendar in our lives.
